Going to BlogWorld08

BlogWord and New Media ExpoAs I finish out this workday Thursday I am so excited because the last thing on my to do list is something I saved for last because I am so excited about it. That item is “Pack for Blog World.” Woot!

My journey to this blogger-filled event started when I tweeted that I was wishing to go to BlogWorld but wasn’t sure it was in the cards for this year. One of my Twitter friends @Ribeezie suggested that I enter the contest by Derek Semmler and try to win a free pass. I entered and I won!

One thing I’ve found about going to conferences is that I am the happiest with my results when I am clear going into the event what I want to accomplish. So, with that in mind, here are my goals at BlogWorld (in no particular order – except the first one):

  1. Meet Derek Semmler and buy him a beer. It’s the least I could do since he got me a pass to the whole enchilada.
  2. Chat with Dave Taylor about his @FilmBuzz project.
  3. Connect with at least 15 business and/or marketing related bloggers who would let me give away a copy or two of my book to their readers and have me stop by on my virtual book tour.
  4. Meet with Wendy Piersall (the SparkPlug CEO herself) about teaching a class on mobile marketing at SparkPlugU.
  5. Talk with the folks from Tagga about their cool mobile marketing platform.
  6. Meet with any other mobile marketing people who are there.
  7. Meet a ton of my Twitter and blogging friends in person. There are way too many of you to even start to list them here. You know who you are!
  8. Get 25 new ideas for ways to improve my blog and my marketing.
  9. Get 50 new subscribers to receive my Mobile Marketing Text Brief. If you want to jump on board just text the word KIMDUSHINSKI (no spaces and it doesn’t have to be in all caps) to 95495.
  10. Have FUN!

Now, I’ve really got to get packing. Hopefully my cool postcards for The Mobile Marketing Handbook will arrive tomorrow as scheduled.

  1. We look forward to meeting you down there as well. We’re going to be hosting a series of taggamobs at blogworld, so we’re going to be all over the place. Follow us on twitter and we should try and meet up (@tagga)

  2. Looking forward to having a drink with you Kim and getting a chance to meet you! Also, I don’t know if you were aware of this, but I also work with Wendy Piersall so that is cool that you want to meet up with her as well.

I’ll be packing soon myself and heading out tomorrow. I’ll shoot you an email with some contact info so we can be sure to connect.

  3. So…what did you think? Out of the list, how many tasks did you accomplish?

Well, if you’re experience was anything like man I’m sure you’re back home pumped full of energy and ready to go! Will talk to you soon once you’re all settled in :-)

  4. I can’t wait to hear how it went. You’re so very lucky to have won a ticket. And smart to publish your goals for the event. That’s a brilliant idea, I may end up copying you for my next adventure into conference land.

Hope your fabulous luck held in Vegas!

  5. Kim,I’m sure glad you won that pass to BWE because I loved meeting you and sharing ideas/brainstorming on how we could collaborate and help each other. I look forward to more. I hope you enjoyed BWE as much as I did. I really think it might be one of the best conferences I’ve ever attended. I so GOT the power of Twitter and how impactful it can be for business. Also, I am forever moved by the authenticity of the blogger community. I hope you will visit my blog and read my post at http://www.sixfiguremomsclub.com. Love to help you anyway I can with your book promotions. Let me know when you are ready and I will read, write reviews, tweet and blog about you!
    Warmly,
    Angie
