OMMA Mobile Conference

I’m heading out today to New York for the OMMA Mobile Conference. While I am excited to see many of the speakers, I have to say that I am most looking forward to meeting Steve Smith, a MediaPost columnist and the Emcee for the one-day conference. I am a big fan of his column, MobileInsider.

He writes about the cutting edge of mobile with a wonderfully witty sense of humor. I mean, who can resist a column entitled Wap-A-Matic, about Quattro Wireless’s new self-serve WAP site maker GetMobile.com. Or the one called Learning to Swim With Doddering Old Fools where he admits he finds “the childish enthusiasm surrounding mobile invigorating and addictive”. I often find that references to his teenage daughter and her daughterly disdain of him often drive home the point of his column. He’s a good read all the time.

So, if you are going to be at OMMA, look for me. I’d love to meet you. Whether you’re going or not, sign up to get Steve’s column sent to you every week. I predict you’ll love it as much as I do.

  1. Great post Kim. Unfortunately I dont think we met each other at OMMA last Thursday.

It was great to see people are finally starting to pay attention to Mobile Web content (and of course mobile analytics).

For too long it’s been an ‘also ran’ repurposing of desktop content that content providers threw up at the last minute without even bothering to monitor traffic (didn’t matter most of the time as the content was static and unchanging anyway).

I’ve said for a long time, if someone visits your mobile site and you dont have any analytics and dont know anything about them or their visit…..does it count (as a homage to the saying “if a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear”).

For those of you not at the event Amethon’s Mobile Analytics is one of the worlds first analytics applications specifically built for mobile browsers.
With no page tagging, artifacts or javascript we offer a real time analytics solution with no overhead or lag.

You can finally see what your mobile web visitors are trying to tell you about your mobile content…….good or otherwise (and in real time).

At least then you will be able to move forward offering dynamic mobile web content that interests your visitors.

Hopefully we will catch up at the next event if not before hand.

    Cheers,
    Dean Collins
